APRIL 3, 2025 – VusionGroup (VU – FR0010282822), the global leader in digitalization solutions for commerce, is proud to announce having been selected by Seven-Eleven Japan Co. Ltd., through its partner TOPPAN Co., to equip two innovative store concepts, leveraging EdgeSense and VusionGroup’s solutions, at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. These stores will showcase the future of retail, combining sustainability with advanced technology to create an unparalleled associate and shopping experience.
The new store concepts presented by 7-Eleven will leverage VusionGroup’s digital shelf system EdgeSense in its light-harvesting version (developed in collaboration with Exeger), which marks the world’s first installation of this technology, as well as its advanced solutions to offer numerous benefits for both retailers and customers. Attendees will experience firsthand how these stores enhance efficiency, improve customer engagement, and promote sustainability.
EdgeSense, along with its VusionOX operating system, revolutionizes retail operations by making it effortless for stores to locate products, guide and communicate with employees and customers, manage digital signage, and analyze shelves in real-time. This all-encompassing solution guarantees a seamless and efficient shopping experience.
Additionally, the light-harvesting version of EdgeSense takes sustainability to the next level by significantly reducing the need for batteries, harnessing the abundant light already present in stores. This innovation not only cuts down on the environmental footprint but also boosts the power budget, enabling retailers to further streamline their operations and deliver exceptional experiences for both shoppers and associates.
“We are thrilled to support 7-Eleven at the World Expo 2025 to showcase the future of retail—one that is smarter, more sustainable, and more engaging. Through our EdgeSense digital shelf system, combined with Exeger’s Powerfoyle technology, we are redefining in-store efficiency and customer experience while significantly reducing environmental impact. This innovation not only enhances real-time product visibility and employee communication but also eliminates the need for disposable batteries, leveraging light-harvesting technology to power next-generation retail. It’s a bold step towards a greener, more efficient shopping experience for both retailers and consumers,” said Pascal Gerbert-Gaillard, EVP APAC at VusionGroup.
The store concepts will feature:
- Enhanced Customer Engagement: Interactive displays and real-time product information to improve the shopping experience.
- Operational Efficiency: Streamlined processes for product location, employee communication, and digital signage management.
- Sustainability: Solar-powered solutions that reduce the store’s carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly practices.
VusionGroup and 7-Eleven invite attendees of the World Expo 2025 to visit their exhibit and experience the future of retail firsthand.
